Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 青少年兒童福利研究所 === 97 === The Influences of Emotional Intelligence on Peer Relationship among Middle and High Graders in Elementary School Abstract This study aims to explore the influences of emotional intelligence on peer relationship among middle and high graders in elementary schools of Taichung County. The target population includes the 4th- and 6th- graders of elementary schools of Taichung County, among which 384 valid samples were obtained through stratified random sampling. By employing the questionnaire survey and the Emotional Intelligence and Peer Relationship Scale as the research instrument, the researcher retrieves the data and afterwards conducts data analysis with such methods as descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Major findings derived from this study are listed as follows: 1. The interpersonal emotional intelligence among the middle and high graders in elementary schools is found better than the intrapersonal emotional intelligence among the counterparts. 2. The middle and high graders in elementary schools are clearly aware of the emotions they are feeling. 3. The middle and high graders in elementary schools are generally found accepted by peers. 4. The females among the middle and high graders in elementary schools perform better on their emotional intelligence and peer relationship than the male counterparts. 5. Grades of middle and high graders in elementary schools reflect different aspects of emotional intelligence. 6. Family patterns of middle and high graders in elementary schools reflect different aspects of emotional intelligence as well as peer relationship. 7. Discipline styles of middle and high graders in elementary schools reflect different aspects of emotional intelligence as well as peer relationship. 8. Positive correlations exist between the emotional intelligence and peer relationship among middle and high graders in elementary schools. 9. The popular children among the middle and high graders in elementary schools perform better on their emotional intelligence and peer relationship than the unpopular counterparts. 10.The variables of emotional intelligence among the middle and high graders in elementary schools indicate more significant prediction accuracy on peer relationship. The aforementioned findings shed the light on elementary schools, daycare institutes, teachers, social workers, counselors, parents, and family members. Additionally, the findings also see suggestions applicable to future studies. Key words: Emotional Intelligence, Peer Relationship
