The cell viability of Detroit 551 and B16F10, defensive effect for UVB-induced damage of Detroit 551 and B16F10 before UVB irradiation, defensive effect for UVB-induced injury of Detroit 551 and B16F10 after UVB irradiation, Dopachrome content and melanin content of B16F10 with 0.01mg/ml ~ 50mg/ml of liquid black natto or liquid natto were investigated in this study. The results show that liquid black natto No.1, No.2, No.3 and liquid natto No.4, No.5 were 0.05mg/ml and liquid natto No.6 was 0.1mg/ml that were stimulated B16F10 proliferation. No.1, No.2, No.3, No.4 and No.5 were 10mg/ml and No.6 was 0.01mg/ml that were stimulated Detroit 551 proliferation. Before UVB irradiation, No.3 could defend UVB-induced damage of B16F10 in five minutes. On the other hand, No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4 could defend UVB-induced damage of Detroit 551 in five to ten minutes. No.1, No.2, No.4 and No.5 could defend UVB-induced damage of Detroit 551 and B16F10 in UV light in five to ten minutes. Besides, the samples have effects to lower the Dopachrome content and melanin content of B16F10. In conclusion, liquid black natto and liquid natto could not only stimulate cell proliferation, but also defend UV irradiation, lower melanin. They also could apply to skin protective agent and skin maintainable agent.
