Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 景觀學系碩士班 === 97 === Urban development and environmental conservation are strongly correlated with the monitoring of land use change. This study focuses on integrating remote sensing and geographic information system to monitor the land cover change and build-up area expansion in Taipei. The research processes include applying satellite image classification to acquire 1993 and 2007 land cover maps ; assessing the land cover change and build-up area expansion of Taipei during the period of 15 years based on GIS, landscape indices, and Shannon diversity t-test ; investigating the effect of administrative districts on land cover change and build-up area expansion.
The research result indicated that Taipei landscape change did have significant change from 1993 to 2007 according to the analysis of landscape indices and Shannon diversity t-test. Meanwhile, build-up area expansion significantly affects Taipei’s landscape and also causes the fragmentation of other land cover types. As for the effect of administrative districts on land cover change and build-up area expansion, the result pointed out that four districts (i.e. Zhongshan District, Songshan District, Neihu District, and Wanhua District) among 12 districts have strong significant effect on land cover change while four districts (i.e., Beitou District, Zhongshan District, Songshan District, and Neihu District) are significant on build-up area expansion. From the above results, it is concluded as follows. (1) The integration of remote sensing and GIS techniques is an effective and useful tool for urban sprawl. It can acquire and display the timely information about urban sprawl, and also provide urban planner with those information to understand the whole process of urban development. (2) According to land-use information from 1997 to 2007, Taipei landscape is strongly affected by urban sprawl, particularly four districts (i.e., Zhongshan District, Songshan District, Neihu District, and Wanhua District) for land cover change and our districts (i.e.,Beitou District, Zhongshan District, Songshan District, and Neihu District) for build-up area expansion. Therefore, a detailed urban development model from Taipei City is needed in order to achieve sustainable development.
