Summary: | 碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 經營管理研究所 === 97 === It is well-received that the effective use of patent information can significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of research and development (R&D) activities. However, how effective can patent information assist R&D activities? Does the intensity of utilizing patent information affect the technology value of research and development? This research attempts to investigate such interactions.
To understand the demand for patent information, interview with R&D engineers on the use of patent information was first conducted. The demand pattern was then augmented with previous literature to derive a demand scale for patent information. Questionnaire survey was conducted with R&D personnel at several high-technology companies to examine whether the demand pattern for patent information affect the technology value of R&D activities. The Tipping, Zeffren and Fusfeld (1995) model of Technology Value Pyramid (TVP) is introduced to evaluate thirty-three attributes of research and development activities.
This study found that: If R&D staff cares both technical and strategic information of patent, it would help increasing the value of R&D activities. However, how do the application of the patent information really assist R&D activities to improve the Value of Technology? The research went through Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to find out how patent information can facilitate the quality of R&D activities, as well as through in-depth investigation to clarity the meaning of the management, and also constructing a model to assist R&D activities. The exploration of this research may be referenced the timing to apply patent information, patent analysis tooling chosen and strategy planning on patent technology. The study also could be as reference for patent information service providers to design more fulfilling patent information platform for R&D.
