Summary: | 碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 工業工程與管理研究所 === 97 === Foreign direct investment is one of the strategies that many companies use to expand their territory and improve their competitiveness. Due to the increase in Taiwan’s land and labor costs as well as the increasing competition from China and Southeast Asia countries, many Taiwan companies have to invest in foreign country in order to maintain competitive advantage. However, the risk in foreign investment is much higher than in domestic investment because most of the companies are not familiar with the situation and culture of the foreign country. Therefore, company has to be caution in making foreign investment decision.
China has been the most popular investing place for Taiwan companies in recent years. However, after China implementing the new Labor Contract Law, the operating cost has increased and affected company’s competitive advantage. Therefore, many Taiwan companies start to shift their investment from China to low labor cost countries in Southeast Asia. Among these counties, Cambodia, which is one of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), has received a lot of attention lately. In order to let Taiwan companies understand more about Cambodia’s investment environment, this study investigates the investment motivation and managerial problems of the Cambodia’s Taiwan companies by using questionnaire method. Hopefully, the result of this study can be used as a reference for Taiwan companies seeking investment in Cambodia.
