The research purposes are: first, to undergo a Wii’s patents analysis; second, to explore the strategies of Wii’s patents; third, to deconstruct patent application strategies of Nintendo. Patent search, result in 142 Wii patents, in which 114 are utility patents and 28 are design patents, on the filling dates between October 2005 and December 2008. The preliminary analysis included application types, patent classifications, application date and inventors. Patent strategies disclosed by G. Ove in “The Economics and Management of Intellectual Property” were utilized to analyze Nintendo’s patent strategy. This research finds that Nintendo adopts the patent strategy of “combination into patent networks “in Wii’s patents by analyzing the features of patent strategies. For example, Nintendo is a large-scale company capable of allocateing more resources to the patents, affording a good number of patent applications, possessing key technologies, setting difficulty of design around patents by competitors as well as the, involved three major technical fields. Finally, the study restores and deconstructs Nintendo’s patent application strategies into implementing the patent strategy, designing the claims of patent, consideration of patent application date, patent application countries, citing foreign priority, among others. The study provides guidelines in designing patent strategy for Taiwan’s enterprises to protect their highly creative and commercially valueable products. none none 葉明義 劉顯仲 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 78 zh-TW
