The bibliography mainly probes about blind people’s personalities, habits, the categories and definition of the tools. I categorize the tools into three kinds: low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech, and through the discussion I realize the present situation, the development, and the applied techniques of the tools for blind people. Along with the things above, I added in thorough interviews and analyzed the design concepts into six aspects as follows: (1) effort –saving (2) accuracy (3) convenience for carrying out (4) reward (5) discernment (6) time-saving, and made them become the basis of my later design. In the earlier stage of the discussion on bibliography and interviews, I can imagine and understand the situation when the blind people are using it. Since the low-tech based tools usually cost cheaper and they can directly fix the problems that the blind people need to fix, so I choose the low-tech based tools as my main design direction. Finally, I develop two products relating to the Braille typing system. The features are as follows: 1. the feature of new Braille Typing Board (1) When you use the old version of Braille Typing Board, the users have to type the words adversely, and it’s quite easy to type the words in the reversed way. However, the new Braille Typing uses the structure of having the indentation on the upper part and the protruding on the lower part, so the user can simply type the words without thinking and decreases the chance of mistyping. (2) The buttons for the new Braille Typing Board also adapts the original Braille Typing System, which has six dots in a row, so the users don’t have to learn other ways of typing. Also, it is also easy and time-saving for the users to type because the size of each button is 5mm. (3) When the needle pen is moving in any direction, the machine has a tenon so the users can know how far the needle pen moves and prevent the chance of typing the words to in a wrong space. 2. The features of the Braille Typing Tag Machine’ (1) The buttons adapt the Braille Typing System, which contains six dots. That is to say, people who know how to type in Braille Typing System can learn quickly and decrease the chance of mistyping. (2) The cutting function: It makes the tag (the sticker) easy , time-saving , and convenient for people to use. (3) The arrangement of the typing board is the same as the Braille Typing System, so it speeds up the learning process for the user-to-be. (4) The size of the machine is small, and the user can carry it to anywhere. Jin-Dean Cheng 鄭金典 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 100 zh-TW
