The research starts from investigating the variation of key dimensions for the assemblies with single bolt-hole fit. Later, the discussion of the assemblies with double bolt-hole fits is classified as two groups, interference fits and clearance fits. This research focuses on the analyzing the contact positions of assemblies, developing corresponding dimension chains and evaluating possible tolerance accumulation. In this thesis, a new tolerance analysis method called separation method has been developed for analyzing the products with double bolt-hole fits. For the bolts under force constraints, the method can effectively evaluate the variations of the resultant dimensions. A comparison among the statistical method, the assembly shift method and the separation method has been made and the feasibility and effectiveness are examined based on the results from the Monte Carlo simulation.
