Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 管理研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to investigate the managerial issues of middle-level managers, and compare similarities and dissimilarities of Taiwanese and American in notebook PC suppliers. This research collected questionnaire and interviews from middle-level managers. This article attempted to specific explore three major challenges in these managers’ daily operation with their supervisors, their peers and their subordinators. We conducted qualitative methodology and deep interview to collect their opinions. Then we indicative analyze from collected data to identify any difference among local or foreign companies. With issues identified, this research will introduce potential solutions from documentation and theoretical studies in similar areas. With qualitative analysis, the research is hoping to draw a conclusion to benefit the notebook industry. This research found that common management challenges across middle-level managers when working with their supervisors includes job assignment, communication, trust and empowerment. Common management challenges when working with peers include competition, cross functional communication and negotiation, regions and language barriers, self-centered. The common management challenges seen when working with subordinators are working attitude, work load, performance appraisal, reward system and team work.
