Be able to provide customers 7*24 services, banking deploys Disaster Recovery Plan that would offer customers with seamless access to services. IT department faces ever-escalating customer demands and expectations. This research uses Deming Cycle: Plan、Do、Check、Action to review DRP in banking industry. The main part of this research is a case study on Taiwan banking industry. This research comprises 3 cases in this study. The first one is a new bank established after 1980, the second is a tradition bank, another one gains most market share in deposit business. Results of these case studies provide a reference model for banks in this Taiwan. Accounting to the research results, there are SMART 5 suggestions. SMART refers to S: Step by step; M: Manager participation; A: Area selection; R: Redundant design and T: ouTsourcing. 1. Step by Step:Take disaster drill step by step. 2. Manager participation:The importance of active participation by CIO in the DRP. 3. Area selection:It is important to take measures to avoid the risk of natural disaster. 4. Redundant design:To design IT infrastructure includes redundant concepts. 5. ouTsourcing:Deciding outsourcing implements Disaster Recovery Plan project. We believe these proper recommendations can help formulate the proper guidelines for Disaster Recovery Plan in banking industry.
