Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工業管理系 === 97 === The first objective of this research is to explore the opportunities of deploying a newly developed printing technology from a top-down viewpoint. In-Mold Decoration (IMD), the technology addressed in this research, is one of the cutting-edge solutions to aid participants expand their applications to a new era. Next, we took a case company as an example for evaluating the feasibility of incorporating IMD. We facilitated this case study from every technical aspect to analyze the production capacity, equipment and factory arrangement, land allocation, human resources, etc. Finally, we steped into the stage of financial analysis and risk assessments. Therefore, it would become a beneficial decision making supporting tool for the case company. We have concluded the research results as following: 1. From the technical viewpoint, the results reveals positive as IMD is regarded as an innovative technology combining printing and plastic sheets. That can be widely applied into laptop PC barebone, cell phone display, PCB, TFT, dashboard, household items, cosmetics, medical items, beverages and any other industrial appearance. All these would become killer applications. 2. The results from financial analysis study summarying as below: (1) The outcomes appeared in our favor after performing several financial models: Payback Period method, Discounted Payback Period Method, Net Present Value Method, Internal Rate of Return Method, Modified I Internal Rate of Return Method, and Profitability Index Method. (2) The risk assessment by sensitivity analysis and scenario analysis, results indicated acceptable. Apart form the aforementioned consequences, it is suggested that the case company should incorporate supplementary measures on order taking, manufacturing, supply chain management and other strategic initiatives to ensure the success. Most importantly, we would highlight some key points. Case company should take aggressive actions, including early involvement to customer’s product phase-in design stage and trail production, upstream material allocations on plastic sheet, printing ink as well as internal resources preparations such as human resources, and action plans on new technology adoption.
