Among the complex creating processes, the usage of virtual camera involves many details inherited from the above three issues, and play a critical role in the performance of computer animation. Animation is the art of storytelling, and camera language is the way to do it. Therefore, the objective of this research focuses on how to use the camera to tell a story in 3D computer animation. This research first investigates the definitions and concepts of different shot types from published resources. Three popular 3D animation films, Toy Story, Shrek and Ice Age, are used in this research as analysis samples. By way of sorting out the story into three structures and discuss the shots separately, this research studies the camera language of animation film and generalizes the tendency and expression of shot in commercial 3D animation film in Hollywood.
