Nowadays, it is even more alluring. When the two appearances of sculpture have been well-developed, we are anxious and curious about how sculpture can innovate from the original patterns. In this study, the concept of ‘sculpture’, and the relevant literature of ‘interplay of no-being and being’ and ‘circle, tube, and container’ were presented as well as my own logic of sculpture design and topology construction based on these concepts. In addition, I discussed and reflected the portfolio of my sculptures and the exhibition of sculpture installation, ‘a single circle’, in 2009. With the development of new concepts of sculpture design and technology, sculpture design has changed from utilizing physical objects into integrating digital technology. We need to be aware of the issues; that whether sculptural creation with manual labor of personal techniques should be abandoned and the process of sculptural creation should open to the public; whether artists are not necessarily experts anymore and everyone can be an artist in the future. First, for the term ‘interplay of no-being and being’, I focused on the word ‘interplay.’ Work of art is a medium for creators to transmit their idea to the audience. The audience is like a player to install the artwork based on their own perception. This is what we expect an ideal vision of sculpture design that one container has multiple functions. In addition, there are 9 implications of the meaning of ‘no-being’ which are discussed specifically in the following chapter. Based on the concept of ‘no-being’, I created the pithy formula of ‘there is no beginning to a circle, no bottom to a tube and no seal to the container, whereas there is a seal to a circle, a beginning to a tube and a bottom to a container.’ After communicating with my past artwork and reflecting the exhibition of a single circle, although I discovered more questions which I did not notice before rather than found the answers to all the questions. The finding put heavy pressure on me; however, it also motivated me to seek the answers to the questions. In conclusion, in the digital era, digital technology will become a new partner of sculpture and help it to fly in the sky of art rather than leads to its extinction.
