However, the intense schedule often costs players tired and even injured, and their performance are therefore affected. The dilemma becomes more serious in Taiwan especially when the national team failed to make second round in the World Baseball Classics in 2009.
The thesis uses data envelopment analysis(DEA) and malmquist index to study the effect of professional baseball players in Taiwan in participating in international tournaments on their performance next season. The result shows that the negative effect did exist in most players, and is extremely serious for the one who participated in
international tournaments.
