Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 社會學系 === 97 === People’s dressing in everyday life is not the result of self-style, and is also not the result of limit imposed by external anticipation. This paper used junior high school teachers as research object, and tried to find what influence their dressing. By discussing other people’s research and dramaturgical approach, I choose the teacher’s interactive object and position in the school to answer this paper’s research question. The semi-structured interview method was used to collect data from 16 teachers who are work in the same school and were selected by purposive sampling and snowball sampling.
This research found that teachers’ dressing shows a moderate image. Teachers’ dressing is influenced by their job content, interactive object and position in the school. When teachers’ interactive object is students, teachers wish their dressing won’t cause male-students’ fanciful daydream, but want students to concentrate on what teachers said, and want to set a good pattern for students, therefore teachers often dress plain coat, trousers, and flat shoes in ordinary workday. In school day, teachers have chance to interact with students’ parents, and they hope what they dress can make students’ parents feel that the teacher is mature and that they are be respected, therefore teachers often dress plain coat, skirt, and heeled shoes. Besides, seniority, appointment and subject they teach will influence the situation when they interact with students or student’s parents, and influence their dress.
In conclusion, junior high school teachers’ dressing is influenced by their interactive object, besides, the situation when they interact with students or student’s parents and their dressing, are influenced by their position in the school. Therefore, this article thought when explaining junior high school teachers’ dressing by their interactive object, we need to discuss their position in the school, too.
