However, not all school coaches graduated from sports-related studies, and many of these duties are taken on by school teachers or parents who love sports and treat it as their calling. Nonetheless, there are many stories behind every hard-working coach that are yet to be told. Coaches play diverse and important roles in a school setting, and they are bound to face conflicts and to re-adjust their duties when their different roles clash with one another. Those who chose to resign and work only as teachers or just being parents naturally face different problems, stress, and conflicts during their work, and each of them has a different path and psychological re-adjustment. This study is about four elementary school coaches who chose to leave their job; through their own words, we understand their passion and the goals they set for themselves at work. Despite the imperfect outcome, coaching is still their most beloved job. The purpose of this study is for us to understand elementary school coaches' work and feelings, determine the reasons behind their resignation, and understand how these individuals re-adjust themselves psychologically after their resignation. The subjects in this study are four former elementary school coaches. Through in-depth interviews, the findings are as follow: These four individuals took on the coaching job with their enthusiasm and the mission to serve, and the sense of achievement and honor they acquired at work were what kept them going. Transforming passion into energy, these individuals made the most out of their job, and their sense of joy came from the sense of achievement – their self-actualization. However, irreconcilable conflicts eventually put out the flame as these individuals were surrounded by a sense of disappointment and helplessness, leaving them no other options than quitting. Leaving the job, however, was both saddening and hard for them; it was like they had fallen into a lost world and were unable to escape. To them, the worst part is not leaving the job but a world of glory and beautiful memories. As time goes by, these individuals are still trying to leave the lost world and have let fate to decide their future. Keywords: elementary school coaches, resignation, psychological adjustment.
