Results of the study showed that the mean score was 25.28 for the BDI-II inventory, indicating an mild degree of depression. The mean score of the social support scale was 42.68, indicating an mild level of obtainment of social support. The highest mean scores of social support was the emotional support, the secondary scores was informational support and the lowest score was the instrumental support. The most important support source for depressed mothers was their spouse(or partners), the secondary source was their family members, the next important source was the friends and the professionals. Indicated that the depressed mothers obtained more help from their spouses(or partners) and family members. Results of the study showed that the degree of depression was positive correlation with the parenting stress, the high-level socio-economic status depressed mothers had more social support than mid-level and low-level socio-economic status depressed mothers. Results of the study also found the time of being diagnosed depressed was negative correlation with the social support. Also, the degree of depression was negative correlation with the social support. Social support and parenting stress were also found to have a negative correlation. According to the regression analysis, the entire social support could predict the parenting stress, which explained 13.3% variances of the parenting stress. The different type of social support had different predictability to the parenting stress and the emotional support had significant predictability which explained 13.9% variances of the parenting stress. The predictability was higher than the entire social support. When using the step-wise regression analysis, the results showed that the degree of depression was the most important predict variable of parenting stress and the emotional support didn’t enter the regression formula. The results of the study can be used as the pilot study of exploring the parenting stress and the social support of depressed mother and can be reference resources for later researchers. The results also can provide information for the related personnel to know more about the factors related with the parenting stress and social support of depressed mothers and let the personnel provide suitable support and help the depressed mothers enhance their parenting function and alleviate their parenting stress. 梁培勇 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 88 zh-TW
