Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 98 === The purpose of the study is to analyze the content of the assigned chorus piece in national music competition for elementary students during academic year 92 to 96, and to make recommendations on the based of the results. Based on the purpose of the research, three categories are chosen for the content analysis with the support of reference and validity: “national category and style”, “content of the chorus piece”, “skill and characteristic of composition”. These qualitative data are collected and used for content analysis in the study. The results of the research are presented as follows: First, the assigned chorus piece in the Music Competition during academic year 92 to 96 mainly used works composed by modern local musicians, with selections of works in dialects. Elements of pop music started to be used in the compotitions. Second, most of the content of the assigned chorus piece were chosen to meet to the elementary students’ musical abilities. The form was referred to as AB(binary form); two parts songs were usually selected; the meter signature was referred to as quarter note gets one beat and beats can be grouped in twos or fours, it remained stablely in the whole tune; the tempo of assigned chorus piece almostly based on “Moderato” and “Allegretto”; the tonality are combined with the major and minor scales and also present as the pentatonic scales, the minor scale were rarely used. Third, Polyphonic and Homophonic music style were both used for skill and style of copmosition. The most frequently selected technique was two parts harmonic songs, followed by songs with countermelodies, and unsion, modulation, variation were the least used. Based on the results, the researcher makes recommendations to the sponsor of music competition unit, the choral composers and arrangers and choral masters. Hopes the results will contribute to the future research.
