Water quality is the most important essentials in aquacluture industry, at present the additive that improving water quality, most are the phototrophic bacteria and nitrifying bacteria. The objective of present study is to establish complex beneficial microorganisms (CBM) technology. To accomplish this objective, several specific aims were established; 1) to apply the concepts of soil microbial composition bility and symbiosis to develop a new CBM formula;2) to test the efficient of CBM as waster quality modulator for removing aquaculture water waste, 3) to used CBM as direct fed microbes for grouper; 4) to use CBM predigested soybean meal for fish meal substitution. A new CBM format that composed of seven groups of probiotics: photosynthetic bacteria, nitrobacters, bacillus, lactic acid bacteria, yeast, actinomyces and fugi. In the waste water test, the results indicated the NH4+ and nitrite decreased significantly. In using CBM as a DFM. CBM administration was performed by mixed with feed pallet, because of CBM containing various enzymes, the results showed that CBM administration can stimulate the mRNA level of grouper innate immune-related genes, such as, Mx and antimicrobial peptide. The result of pathogen challenge test indicated that the survival rate was increased 25% and 50% followed Vibrio alginolyticus or NNV infection, respectively. In application of CBM predigested soybean meal serves as fish meal substitution, CBM predigested SBM can increase small peptide content about 4.8 folds, phytic acid can be reduced up to 68%. Furthermore, the cellulose content can be reduced and reducing sugar content was increased. In growth performance test, no significant difference in weight gain was found in 30% fish meal substitution with CBM predigested soybean meal. In conclusion, formula of complex beneficial microorganisms (CBM) can be served as water quality modulator, a DFM and as a digestion reagent for predigested agricultural by products.
