Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 設計研究所在職進修碩士班 === 97 === The main purpose of this study is to discuss whether elementary school children with different types of build prefer similar figure icons or rectangles with their own body shapes scale and whether the preference is under the influence of background factors like gender, grades, region, body image satisfaction, self-images and ideal body images. The second purpose is to supplement the insufficiency of domestic research on body images among elementary school middle and low grades students. As for the methodology used in this study, 714 students from four elementary schools in Taipei, Taoyuan, Yunlin and Tainan are selected through convenient sampling. The subjects were asked to choose pictures and rectangles they think are beautiful, which include realistic paintings and sculpture pictures of male adults, female adults, male children and female children. Throughout the statistic analysis, this study concludes the followings: 1.The mainstream value of slimness brings female and overweight children more pressure. 2.Compared with schoolgirls, schoolboys like fatter figure icons much more. That means schoolboys don’t have strict demand as schoolgirls do. 3.The higher grade students would like to have moderate figure which is due to their more mature aesthetic perception. 4.Taipei school students with the highest satisfaction of their own body image, this finding is consistent with earlier studies that children in city have better self concept than children in country. 5.Taoyuan school students with wider visual image preference, which is inferred the possibility of life condition requirement differences from Hakka and Fukien families. 6.There is no direct relation between different types of build and preference of visual image. However, individual with different self-satisfaction to his or her own build do affect his or her preference to the scale of visual image. 7.Ideal body image can be seen in their aesthetic preference choices to visual images. 8.There is no discrepancy of preference to female adult figure among school children. And underweight schoolboys apparently prefer thinner schoolgirls. These are the effect of gender stereotype.
