To adapt into changes in time and society, and in addition to possessing traditional functions in belief, temples should step into community and to care for the public’s life and educational needs, in order to bring the social function of education for temples into full play. Therefore a feasible way and future development strategy for temples organizing community educational events have been drafted to understand the social function of education positioning for temples in history through the experiences, deep structure and meanings for the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education and cultural events. The study objectives include: 1. Understand the elements and implementation strategy of the promotion in community adult education process for the Baoan Temple of Taipei. 2. Evaluate and analyze the model and process of the promotion in community adult education for the Baoan Temple of Taipei. 3. Analyze the role, function and characteristics of the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education. 4. Draft the future development function for temples in organization of community adult education, which will be put forward as reference for other temples of religious groups in organizing community adult educational events. The study methods adopted include: case study, literature and data analysis, in-depth interview, and participation observation.    The dimensions for analyzing the Baoan Temple of Taipei in long-term promotion of community adult educational and cultural events include: establish field space for community education, launch arts workshop, seminars and growth classes, publications and books, performance bands and volunteer organization, organizing various folk culture and arts competition and exhibition events, founding community studies such as “Baoshen folk Religious College,” “Baoshen Cultural Festival.” Whereas the implementation strategies for promoting community adult education consist of the followings: 1.Place importance on learning on community cultural characteristics. 2. Combine the various public or private sectors inside and outside the community to strengthen the competitiveness. 3. Introduce the teaching resource outside the community to strengthen the attractiveness of community learning institutions. 4. Promote community life aesthetics in line modern trends with and governmental cultural policies. In sum of the study results, the Baoan Temple of Taipei plays an intermediary role, resource developer, cultural connection, and facilitator for community involvement in the process of promoting community adult education. The characteristics of the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult educational events include: 1. Taking responsibilities in passing down religious belief. 2. A community learning integrated with service-learning. 3. A community study formed by social networks. While the impacts of the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education including: 1. Improve cultural climate for community and temples to promote the physical and mental state of health for the residents. 2. Promote the historical and cultural heritage to improve community identity. 3. Attract religious groups of folk belief to place importance on the passing down of religious belief and culture. 4. Provide cultural stimulation to inspire learning motivations from the public. 5. Promote local development and commit in the reemergence of community cultural park. The efforts and results from promoting community adult education have attained approval from the society and reached the following conclusions: 1. With respect to the overall perspective for temples promoting community adult education: A. the promotion of community adult education is to resume the past traditional social functions of temples. B. Temples promoting community adult education are required to pass down its own religious believe and local culture. c. The Baoan Temple of Taipei plays a leading role in promoting community adult education. 2. With respect to the case study analysis on the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult educational events: a. the dimension of the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education is in line with the western community adult education model. B. the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education plays multiple roles. C. The functions for the Baoan Temple of Taipei in promotion of community adult education on the community residents include: a. services function; b. culture regeneration function; c. guidance and development function; d. gathering community awareness and emotion function; whereas it the functions on the overall society consist of: a. function in forming a prototype of temple promoting community adult education and cultural event; b. function in promoting temple and international cultural exchange. D. The faculty for implementing community adult education accounts for one major factor. E. The construction of community culture should rely on learners as the main body.
