Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教管所學校經營與管理教學碩士班 === 97 === The subject of this study was an elementary school principal in Tainan City ,who won the “National Excellent Leadership Principal Awards”. By interview, participated observation, document analysis and questionnaire survey, data were collected for analysis and exploring. Furthermore, this study aimed to realize the principal’s transformational leadership strategies and their influence on school affairs, teachers and students under the principal’s transformational leadership strategies .
The conclusions of this study were as follows:
1. In the case school, vision was bottom-up developed that kept the school vision and teacher’s personal ideal in considering. Therefore, effectiveness of principal’s transformational leadership was easily attained.
2. The important factor of excellent transformational leadership was that the case principal possessed transformational leader’s characteristics.
3. The case school had features of facing crisis, teacher’s high morale, and small scale school. Those features were suitable for school to practice transformational leadership that could promote successful probability for case principal to run transformational leadership.
4. The case principal organized teams of administration and teaching and promote cooperative teamwork. Meanwhile, he provided abundant support and psychological concern for members that would show effectiveness of transformational leadership easily.
5. The case principal applied marketing strategies successfully to form consensus, promote school reputation, and urged the school to transform successfully.
6. The case principal applied transformational leadership to promote school effectiveness, activate school organizational learning and organizational climate, and create good organizational culture.
7. The case principal applied transformational leadership to stimulate teachers’ passions for education and innovative thoughts which would promote teacher’s professional growth and self-realization.
8. The transformational leadership of the case principal had positive influence for students’ personality, willingness to learn, and self-confidence.
According to the above conclusions, this study offered the following suggestions to the principals who will adopt transformational leadership:
1. To develop good traits of transformational leadership.
2. The vision would better be bottom up built.
3. To strengthen the application of marketing strategies.
4. To build mechanisms of cooperative team.
