Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 97 === Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of brisk walk on memory of primary school students. Methods: Seventy-six children were recruited as subjects from the fourth grades of Yung-Shin Elementary School in Tainan county. All subjects were randomly assigned to training group (n=36) and control group (n=36). There are two kinds of brisk walk program, one is acute bout, and the other is last for 6 weeks. The training group attended both acute bout of brisk walk program ( 15 min/day, 55-70% HRmax) and 6 weeks brisk walk program( 15 min/day, 55-70%HRmax, 5 days/week) and counted the pulse after the training period. All subjects were being examined short-term and long-term memory before and after training. The data was analyzed by one-way ANCOVA to examine if any changes between two groups. The α level was set at .05. Results: We found there was statistical difference (46.00 vs. 40.77, p<.05) in long-term memory after acute bout of brisk walk program, but not in short-term memory. Moreover, the results showed there was statistical difference not only in short-term memory (6.11 vs. 5.03, p<.05) but also in long-term memory (45.9 vs. 40.08, p<.05) after 6 weeks brisk walk program. Conclusions: These findings suggested that acute bout of brisk walk program had improvement on long-term memory and 6 weeks brisk walk program had improvement on both short-term and long-term memory among primary school students.
