Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 國語文學系碩士班 === 97 === Mysterious fictions of the Six Dynasty Period play an important role in Chinese literature and the man-spirit matrimony stories in those fictions have given birth to a good number of literary works in later ages. Through the study of mysterious fictions of the Six Dynasty Period, one will be able to have a better understanding of how such man-spirit matrimony stories were formed and the ideology behind those stories. On the other hand, patriarchism has long exerted extensive influence on human culture. Through various man-made moral, cultural and religious systems within the social frame, women have always been governed and restrained by patriarchism. The composing of historical and literary writings usually dominated by man, in particular, consciously or unconsciously disseminates such thinking. By way of generalization and analysis of man-spirit matrimony stories in fictions of the Six Dynasty Period, the formation, regulation and oppression of men and women in the context of social genders in feudalistic societies was investigated; which shows an ingrained stereotype from the advocating of an ideal female image; while matrimonial systems and doctrines that regulate the association between opposite sexes suppress human nature and result in numerous tragedies between men and women. Through man-spirit matrimony stories in mysterious fictions of the Six Dynasty Period, this thesis tries to analyze the oppression on women from patriarchism and the representation of such in literary works. There are five chapters in the thesis: The First Chapter is Introduction which describes motives and objectives of this research and defines the scope and methods of the research. The Second Chapter outlines the definition and formation of patriarchism and describes the social context of the Six Dynasty Period and how the concept of chastity of Chinese women was formed. The Third Chapter investigates and analyzes the association and getting- along between opposite sexes as well as roles of men and women portrayed in man-spirit matrimony stories in mysterious fictions of the Six Dynasty Period under the influence of patriarchism with an aim to understand the circumstances met by men and women under patriarchism at that time. The Fourth Chapter analyzes the influence of patriarchism on cultures and values at that time through female images constructed by male authors in both positive and negative ways. The Fifth Chapter is Conclusion, which sums up preceding discussions that in a patriarchal society both men and women shall deal with the opposite sex from a healthy point of view. It is anticipated that through such investigation and discussion, critical thinking and exploration of existing values and cultural framework can be induced, which may then lead to a brand new examination and judgement and reconstruct a contemporary and truly equal viewpoint for values and status of men and women, so that real equality and freedom between opposite sexes can be expected.
