During all such nations, Japan stands out with an elderly population exceeding 22%. In order to alleviate this new trend, Japan government has encouraged the elderly to stay overseas for extended periods of time to enjoy a vacation-style existence, so called longstay. Some of Southeast Asian countries have been developing in the longstay market that targets to retired Japanese. Taiwan may be somewhat slow in this regard, but however, in term of history, climate, medical services, security, culture and friendliness, the island has the potential for a longstay industry development. To ensure the efficient planning, regulated and administration of this new industry, a practical business model is required. The purpose of this study is to explore a preliminary business model for longstay industry in Taiwan. References review and semi-structured interviews were applied and the proposed business model includes dimensions of core strategy, customer value, product service, strategic planning and value network. After the interview, content analysis and triangulation are conducted to show respondents’ important information with quantifying numbers to build the business model. The interviewees are all qualified and agreed to attend this study, consist of two government representatives, two industry representatives, two representatives of the related association, one in academic field and one from foreign association of Japan government. This also revealed the research limitation on limited number of qualified interviewee. The results of the study explore the relevant examples and analyze the integrity of the structure and practices. It is also expected to provide the enterprise of this industry with relevant planning and management references. The major findings of this study were as follows: mostly interviewees agree that longstay in Taiwan will be important and practicality in the future. But in this stage, the courses were not well planned and measure supplementary to administer. It is suggested lodging industry to improve its software and hardware construction and worked with the industry, government and school. In addition, government should be the initial dominant position, as the external marketing and administrative resources to integrate the use of the platform. Finally, it should be played the role of observation and supervision in order to maintain the quality of the overall development.
