The contents of abstract in this thesis:
Turnout is the important and complicated cycle in railway system and which is used mainly for the train to switch fast and safely from one railway to another. Taiwanese Railroad Management Bureau of Ministry of Transportation & Communications (bellow as TRMB) paves the railway with about 4500 turnouts but out of the technology of manufacturing those turnouts (except the 37kg type), which leads to purchase foreign modules instead of self-manufacturing. Therefore, TRMB could hardly handle the purchasing cost and period of turnouts.
To improve the weakness, Engineering Maintaining Team of TRMB makes use of the original human resources the do the R&D of self-manufacturing and, as the result, the success of manufacturing 50N#8 joint type turnout is of value. This turnout type has been mass produced about 600 sets and put into practice for good and steady quality.
As the cognition of environment protection and the trend of transporting agriculture materials is getting popular and, by the way, the prices of wooden crosstie is violently increasing.
Therefore, using the PC crosstie instead of wooden one to reduce the replace frequencies and maintaining cost is urgent,
As the TRA’s teamwork R&D,the cost of localizd joint turnout 50N#8 is only NT 503,000 per set;otherwise, that of foreign purchasing NT 1,400,000.Therefore, the localized turnout saves 64% of purchasing cost.
