It can advance function of intake and play important functions in the promote appetite of piglets. Hence, this trial studied on the effects of tryptophan addition on the intake and growth in piglets. This study was divided into three parts, experiment one was to determine the effects of dietary including meat and bone meal, spray-dried plasma protein and addition tryptophan on the growth in weaned piglets. Forty-eight LYD crossbred castrated males of weaned were randomly allocated into six treatments, eight replications per treatment, one piglet per replication. The treatments were control group, control group added 0.02% tryptophan, meat and bone meal group, meat and bone meal added 0.02% tryptophan, meat and bone meal added spray dricd blood powder group, and meat and bone meal with spray dricd blood powder added 0.06% tryptophan group. The piglets be weighted on the day before of trial begin and the trial be started on nextday. The feed have to be weighted and fed afterwards on everyday. On nextday to collect remainder feeds, determine weight, record providing quantity and remainder quantity of everyday, then to calculate daily feed consumption. Piglets be weighted on beginning of the trial, every weeks of during after trial and ending of trial that will be calculated daily average weight gain. Using average feed intake divide to average weight gain be equal to feed efficiency. Experiment two was to determine the effects of dietary including meat and bone meal that addition tryptophan of high quantity on the feed intake and growth in weaned piglets. It choose forty-eight LYD crossbred castrated males of weaned were randomly allocated into four treatments, three replications per treatment, four piglets per replication. The treatments were control group, control group added 0.14% tryptophan, meat and bone meal group, and meat and bone meal added 0.18% tryptophan. This process of trial was e similar as experiment one. The experiment three was to determine the effects of dietary including spray-dried porcine plasma, whey and addition more tryptophan on the feed intake and growth in weaned piglets. Forty-eight LYD crossbred castrated males of weaned were randomly allocated into four treatments, three replications per treatment, four piglets per replication. The treatments of diets were control group, control group added 0.22% tryptophan, spray-dried porcine plasma (SDPP) group, and whey group. This process of trial was similar as experiment one. Everyday have to record feed consumption, each cycle of weight, feed efficiency, diarrhea and random feed during the period of experiment. Results from experiment one indicated that meat and bone meal addition spray dricd blood powder and were better on growth performance during the first week. However, the, weight gain and feed efficiency that added tryptophan was better than did not added tryptophan during the periods of all. Results from experiment two indicated that added tryptophan was better than did not added tryptophan on feed consumption and growth performance but meat and bone meal addition tryptophan was best. Results from experiment three indicated that addition tryptophan was better on feed consumption weight gain and growth performance; and secondly was spray-dried porcine plasma group. To summarize the results as stated above, weaned piglets had better feed consumption and growth performance with the addition of tryptophan. Liang-Chou Hsia 夏良宙 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 77 zh-TW
