Questionnaire is the method, and the data is collected accordingly. The research mean is based on the questionnaire of the relationship between the role perception, role practice and job effectiveness of Ping-tung County police officers which is enacted by the researcher in accordance to the purpose of this study and related literatures. The population of the questionnaire is the fundamental police officers of the seven police stations of Ping-tung police bureau. The numbers of sample is based on the size and areas of the seven stations. Totally 300 questionnaires were sent to the samples. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and progressively multiple regression analysis were adopted by the use of SPSS12.0 statistics software. The results of this study based on the questionnaire and literatures are as following: 1. The most awareness of role perception of the police officers of Ping-tung County is the security maintainer; the most awareness of role practice is the honesty and uprightness; and the most awareness of job effectiveness is the ability of achievement of goal. 2. There is a distinct difference in the role perception no matter in entirety or each phrase for the different area of service. Both Ping-tung Branch and Hern-chung Branch have better grades than Lee-gung Branch in the practice of the role of security maintainer among all. 3. There is also a distinct difference in the role practice no matter in entirety or each phrase for the different area of service. Ping-tung Branch has better grades than Dong-gung Branch in both the ability of judgment to abrupt occurrence and the entire role practice. 4. Another distinct difference in the job effectiveness no matter in entirety or each phrase for the different area of service. Both Ping-tung Branch and Nei-pu Branch have better grades than Dong-gung Branch in the performance of the ability of achievement of goal and entire job effectiveness. 5. For the police officers of Ping-tung County, it appears that the more role perception they have, the more job effectiveness they achieve. 6. For the police officers of Ping-tung County, it also appears that the more role practice they have, the more job effectiveness they achieve. 7. For the police officers of Ping-tung County, it appears that the more role perception they have, the more role practice they will achieve. 8. The police officers of Ping-tung County can predict the job effectiveness in t the phrase of the ability of judgment to abrupt occurrence. Suggestions based on the major findings and conclusions of the above study are presented in three phrases as following: 1. To the basic level police officers: a. Police officers are supposed to understand the characters of the job, pay more attention to the role he plays, and to improve the effectiveness of the work. b. Police officers are supposed to participate professional conference and on-job training in order to improve personal professional capacity. c. For the police officers of Ping-tung County, it may be honest and upright and to be a model, then ascends the populace again to police’s confidence and the impression. 2. To the administration of police force: a. The administration of police force shall provide multiple and more practical channels of on-job training in order to improve the knowledge. b. The administration of police force shall try to lessen the burden of police officers both in routine and extra service in order to raise the satisfaction of job. c. The Ping-tung County Police Bureau shall pay attention to the problems of role perception, role practice, and job effectiveness raised by the different service area. d. The administration of police force shall ascertain the constancy of the performance of law. Make full use of “Regulations of routine procedure for the police stations”. 3. To future research: a. To the objects of research: The objects of research may be extended to the police officers of other counties. The balance of the population should be noticed. b. The variants of research: The atmosphere and promise of organization, the leadership of the chief of the branch, the morale, tiredness, personal characteristics, family element, and awareness of job can be considered to included them. c. The instrument of research: Practical interview and observation to basic level police force can be adopted. The supervisors may be included to make the research more complete. d. The content of research: The consequent researchers may make further compare and analysis under different schools and administrations of police force.
