Questionnaire investigation is adopted as the research method in this dissertation. The sample population included 427 public elementary school teachers who are teaching in Pingtung County. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and stepwise regression were employed to analyze the data. The following conclusions are made and summarized based on the results as: 1. The whole present situation of elementary school principals’ communication behavior is good (above mean), and “information provision” gets the most points in the questionnaire scale. 2. The whole present situation of elementary school teachers’ job involvement is good (above mean), and “work dedication” gets the most points in the questionnaire scale. 3. It is found that teachers who have the following characteristics like graduated from college including Teachers’ College or below, 7-12 class size, municipal area, female principal, principal under 40 year old, 40-60 year old, have better perception of principals’ communication behavior. 4. Teachers with better job involvement usually have the following backgrounds such as, female, served for 16-20years, directors serving more than 21 years, graduated from college including Teachers’ College or below, 7-12 class size, municipal area or rural area, female principal, or have 50-60 year old principals. 5. There is significant positive correlation between elementary school principals’ communication behavior and teachers’ job involvement. 6. Principals’ communication behavior can have good explanation on the teachers’ job involvement especially on the “emotional dedication”. Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of the relationship among principals’ communication behavior and teachers’ job involvement in elementary schools for the reference of operation.
