This study is a quasi-experimental study, subjects are the higher-grade students from an elementary school in Pingtung County. We randomly chose subjects to join our investigation. The implementation of this study is divided into four stages, including pilot test, formal test, open-ended questionnaires, and interview with subjects. There are 104 subjects join the formal test. Battery concept instrument and open-ended questionnaires are formed according to the analysis of existing nine-year continuous curriculum concerning the structure of battery concept, literature, comments and advice from researchers, elementary school science teachers, and studens’ living experience. The result shows that after the teaching experiment, the subjects from four groups have significant differences in answering operational and applied types true/false question, and basic, operational, applied, and problem-solving types multiple choice questions. The results from the open-ended questionnaire and interviews, show that the students’ conception could be improved when assisting and operating with the authentic materials. However, in the comparison of the electrical circuits, the series and parallel connections between a battery and two light bulbs, differences of the light bulb brightness in series and parallel connections , and their operation time, most of the subjects are still unclear about the battery concept after the teaching experiment. none 李賢哲 學位論文 ; thesis 80 zh-TW
