Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 教育心理與輔導學系 === 97 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation among the parental rearing style, parentification and mental adaptation of the college students by questionnaire survey. The measurements applied in this study included the Parental Rearing Style Scale, the Parentification Scale and the University Student Psychology Adjustment Scale (USPAS). The total 557 college students in Taichung City were enrolled. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-moment Correlation, multiple stepwise regression analysis and path analysis. The findings of this study were as followings: 1.Most of the parents used the neglecting parenting style with their children, while the second most adopted style by parents was the authoritative parenting style, as in terms of levels of parental rearing style, the level of demanding was higher than the level of responding. 2.The parentification degree of college students was average toward negative, the mental adaptation degree of college students was normal toward excellent. 3.Males and females were statistically significant in terms of levels of parentification and mental adaptation. 4.Different birth orders were statistically significant in terms of levels of parentification, but not mental adaptation. 5.Students from different family structure were statistically significant in terms of levels of parentification and mental adaptation. 6.There were significant in terms of correlations between parental rearing style and parentification, parental rearing style and mental adaptation, parentification and mental adaptation. 7.Father response, parentification, mother response and mother request could effectively predict overall mental adaptation, parentification was not found to serve as a mediator between parental rearing style and mental adaptation. According to the findings above, this study provided some suggestions to college teachers and counselors, parents and the future researchers.
