| Summary: | 碩士 === 南開科技大學 === 福祉科技與服務管理所 === 97 === The study aims at an application of discomfort index (D.I.) to evaluate the living climate environment of Nantou County in Central Taiwan for the elder’s long stay. The data of temperature and humidity of Sun Moon Lake Weather Station from 1942 to 2006 are used to analyze the D.I. in Nantou. D.I. is a useful index to evaluate how temperature and relative humidity affect the climate comfort for the elder adults. Most people feel quite comfortable when the index is below 70 and very uncomfortable when the index is above 80. The study found that seasonly and annual mean D.I. in Nantou County are below 70 for whole year and the seasons of Spring, Autumn, and Winter; while in summer D.I. is 72, just a little bit higher than 70, and still quite comfortable. D.I. time series of Sun Moon Lake for four seasons and annual are very stable during sixty-five-year period. In addition, Nantou is also famous for its beautiful natural landscape, therefore, Nantou is a nice place for the elder’s living, especially for the elder’s long stay.
