Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 性別教育研究所 === 97 === This study explores the bisexual identity formations and performativity through bisexual community in Taiwan. Due to the existed research rarely recognize the bisexual subjects, this research attempts to present bisexual subjects’ experiences. Primarily based on fieldwork conducted in “Bi the Way”, the first bisexual group in Taiwan, the aim of this study is to analyze the formation of bisexual identity and the performativity of sexuality.
The context of “Bi the Way” is caused by bi-phobia and stigma of bisexuality, as well as the identity politics and exclusionary definitions in lesbian and gay politics. The tactic of coming out collectively is not only the resistance to bi-phobia but also the collective identity “Bi the Way” building. However, there were political dilemmas and contradiction among the inner circle of “Bi the Way” during gay movement, involved the disagreement with the tactic of coming out and the relation with other queer groups.
In conclusion, the bisexuals of “Bi the Way” are building their own community and are trying to develop more discourses to enhance their sexual identities. I hope that these empirical findings prove useful in illuminating that bisexual people’s resistance on the margin and the bisexual community built to be empowering.
