Therefore, the research mainly demonstrated the actual situation in teaching vocabulary at basic level in Taiwan, evaluating the applicability of Image-Text Based strategy in vocabulary instruction at basic level, and explored the suitable type of vocabulary for Image-Text Based strategy. Through questionnaire survey, the author found out when preparing or starting a lesson, teachers in Taiwan would start with vocabulary part, and follow the order of introduction and explanation of the vocabulary through example sentences given in the teaching material with multiple teaching aids. Moreover, the result of analysis proved that the combination strategy of pictures and context was affirmatively correspondent, and the design of the strategy fit the five goal areas of AP course, especially in Communication, Culture, Comparisons, and Communities. As to the suitable type of vocabulary for the strategy, by inductive method the author found out that the predicate word with situating or movement is fit to the strategy. According to the conclusion above, the research serves as a model and provides some recommendations and suggestions for further studies of Image-Text Based strategy in vocabulary instruction at basic level.
