Exploring Taiwan urban people's willingness to pay for the use of hydrogen buses

碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 環境教育研究所 === 97 === Hydrogen fueled buses have been proved to improve air quality in urban areas in the literature; therefore, this study implements an empirical investigation of citizens’ cognition and willingness to pay for the use of hydrogen fueled buses in Taipei and Kaohsiung. We designed a questionnaire as the research tool to conduct a survey of participants’ environmental behavior and attitude, willingness to pay and perception toward hydrogen fueled buses, social background and commuting characteristics. A questionnaire for pretest was designed and the validity was confirmed by expert evaluation; after modifying the questionnaire, a pretest was conducted and the questionnaire was modified again to verify the reliability; then the formal survey was carried out. While the sampling method was convenience sampling, we looked for the subjects in the train stations, bus stations, and rapid transit stations in Taipei and Kaohsiung who are over sixteen years old and willing to participate in the survey. The research findings are as follows: 1. Approximately 85% of the participants supported the government to develop hydrogen fueled buses; 2. The willingness to pay of the citizens in Taipei urban area was about 11 NTD while the amount of the citizens in Kaohsiung was 14 NTD; 3. There were 80% of the participants would like to know more about hydrogen fueled buses; 4. The environmental attitude and behavior had a positive effect on the willingness to pay.
