Abstract By Mei-Shu Lin June, 2009 Adviser：Shu-Mei Chang, Ph. D. The purpose of this study is to explore the situation and the correlation between life attitudes and healthy lifestyles of nursing persons in Kaohsiung. The instruments of this study are Life Attitudes Scale and Healthy Promoting Lifestyles Scale. The subjects of the research is targeted on the nursing persons in 9 units from the public and regional hospitals are Kaohsiung Hospital. There are 600 questionnaires delivered to the samples and 577 valid samples are collected. The percentage is 96.1%. The data are analyzed by the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS for windows Release 12.0), t-test, One-way ANOVA, One-way Multivariate, Scheff′e posteriori comparison test , Pearson′s correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings of the research are as follows. 1. The hospital nurses in Kaohsiung have the positive life attitudes and negative attitudes when facing death but emphasize the value of existence most. 2. The Healthy Promoting Lifestyles of nursing people in Kaohsiung are in the good conditions but worse conditions in exercise, which need reinforcing. 3. Life attitudes in all from different background variants of the hospital nurses in Kaohsiung don’t seem very obviously different. 4. Healthy Promoting Lifestyles from different background variants of the hospital nurses in Kaohsiung show significant differences due to their ages, marriages, titles of work, health, experiences taking care of the dying patients, years of nursing and experiences of participating in health education curriculum. 5. Life attitudes, Healthy Promoting Lifestyles and all levels in life for the hospital nurses in Kaohsiung demonstrate clear and positive relation. 6. The five levels of life attitudes for the hospital nurses in Kaohsiung life Independence, existence, love and concern, life experiences and attitudes toward death -- can predict the Healthy Promoting Lifestyles precisely. Based on the above-mentioned discoveries and conclusions this research can offer the suggestions for the hospital nurses, hospitals, administrative institutions and future researches.
