The red-bricked houses and the apartment buildings in the big city have composed my emotions and mental status from the past childhood memory to the present adulthood of getting used to the city life. This is the main content of my self-creativity and self-writing. This artwork begins in 2003, the year of my initial commitment to this work, and ends in 2007, the year of my study of graduate school. The theme of this artwork is “The Emotion and Memory of the Hometown.” The year 2007 is my critical artistic transition in terms of its styles and forms. That is, my works aim at fusing the images of the skyscrapers into the drawings. This artwork traces my hometown memories back to the simultaneous coexistences between the realism (my president residency) and the surrealism (hometown memory), stating my multiple mental status towards this ever changing epoch—in the past, at present, and in the future. The title of my artwork is “Attachment in the Flows,” which is my representative work of this artwork. I discuss my works with the literatures concerning “the mental concepts of realism,” “the influence on the notion of space of the traditional Chinese painting,” and “the synthesis between images and painting.” Three perspectives are devoted to exploring my ideas concerning the artistic creativity: 1) the exploration of the creative complex; 2) the symbolic creative images; and 3) the witness and intimate vocabulary of the dwelling images. A mental status evokes images—and the “home house” no longer suggests a pure dwelling entity, but a spiritual anchor. It plays the role of stability and tenderness attached to the constantly changing world, as one faces the anxiety and uncertainty of life. 黃郁生 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW
