Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 運籌管理所 === 97 === Emerging markets such as BRICs have been highly developed in recent years, with other newly developing countries following closely behind. This research is consisted of two parts. The first part has applied data envelopment analysis technique to estimate the efficiency of the largest port in the V.I.S.T.A. and ASEAN countries. The second part of this research has employed the Malmquist Productivity Imdex to analyze the reasons resulting in the change of the ports efficiency between 2001 and 2005. The result indicates the largest container port in Singapore and South Africa are efficient ports in CCR model. In addition, the ports facilities are idled and their productivity is deteriorating. Brunei-port of Muara, Singapore-port of Singapore and South Africa-port of Durban are found to be the efficient ports in BCC model. And it was inferred the reason of inefficient ports were caused from pure technical inefficiency. Using the CCR model and the CCR cross efficiency model, it had been found that the major ports in Singapore-port of Singapore and South Africa-port of Durban were situated in Group I which was named benchmark ports. Whereas the operational efficiency of most of the other ports in emerging markets were situated in Group Ⅲ, it shows lots of ports in emerging economics haven’t paid much attention to their port’s operational efficiency. Using the Malmquist Productivity Index, it was found the reasons of declined productivity were caused from the deterioration of the efficiency change, and the reasons of deteriorated efficiency change were caused from the deterioration of the pure technical change.
