Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用日語所 === 97 === The ultimate purpose of learning a language is to use it to communicate, and listening skills are the key to effect communication. Studies show that for Japanese learners in Taiwan, listening proficiency is one of the most difficult skills to improve. This research probes into the teaching methods and materials being currently used in the listening courses in the departments of Japanese language studies in universities in Taiwan.
The research focuses on the listening courses provided in 2008 in the departments of Japanese in forty-one universities in Taiwan, including twenty-five general universities and sixteen technological and vocational universities (most of which are four-year colleges). The thesis comprises five chapters. The first chapter describes the motives and purposes of the research, research scope and methods used. The second chapter summarizes current listening and listening education. The third chapter is a compilation of information on the current curriculum design, course hours taught, year taught, and methods and materials used in listening courses. The fourth chapter, based on the information complied in Chapter Three, presents the findings of the analysis of the curriculum, teaching methods, and teaching materials. The fifth chapter presents the conclusion, reviews problems found in current listening education and provides suggestions.
