The waters around it are both cold and warm current meeting area. It is coastal sediments are mostly sandy that suitable for shrimp beam trawls. The shrimp beam trawl not only caught the shrimp, but also captured the demersal fish and crab durins the operating period. The shrimp beam trawl also had a high bycatch rate. There fore, a long-term operation could deplete the marine resources of Penghu .From the viewpoint of resource management, it should reduce the phenomenon of increased bycatch rate. Hence, this study attempted to carry out the protocols including seasonal variation, daytime and night, and using the electricity or not to investigate the differences among their fishing efficiencies in order to find the appropriate management model for fishermen under considering both the fishermen’s income and resources conservation. This study used two vessels to carry out the experiments on traditional fishing ground around northern waters off Penghu. The results were as follows: (1) For seasonal variation, the catch amount of the shrimp Metapenaeopsis barbata had the significant difference in winter while fish was significant difference in autumn. No significant differences were for other categories. (2) Considering the catch rate between daytime and night, the shrimp and crab were caught more at daytime than those of night, while cephalopods and fish caught more at night, but all of them did not reach significant difference. (3) For using electricity or not, only the shrimp Penaeus japonicus showed a significant difference. Based on the above results the electricity-used and season two factors were the key stone to influence the fishing efficiency of shrimp beam trawl. In order to manage the resources of the sea shrimp, prohibiting the usage of electricity and the seasonal management are the main items for such purpose.
