Summary: | 碩士 === 國立宜蘭大學 === 資訊工程研究所碩士班 === 97 === Network management is an important mechanism which is used to manage network devices and obtain status from the devies. This thesis utilizes OpenNMS,which is a well-known and carrier-grade network management system, to managewireless access points (APs) deployde in National Ilan University (i.e., a campus environment). OpenNMS provides many convenient features, but does not include the SNMP set function that is used to configure the network decices. We develop and integrate SNMP set and SNMP input functions into OpenNMS. Through these functions, OpenNMS can configure and restart wireless APs. The wireless APs work within the same region can be classified in the same group. When a problem occurs in a region, the APs with the same group can be restarted at the same tme. Therefore, we also integrate group management function to the OpenNMS. The E-mail notification in OpenNMS does not inform the manager in real time. To solve this problem, we integrate two active notification mechanisms (i.e., short message and PushMail) into OpenNMS .When warning events are happended, OpenNMS sents short message or PushMail to notify the manager. Finally, this thesis analyze the performance and cost of sending short message and PushMail. With the results, managers can select the most effective way to send notifications.
