Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立宜蘭大學 === 化學工程與材料工程學系碩士班 === 97 === This first-attempt study tended to quantitatively provide dose-response assessment with threshold model upon in-vitro antibacterial activity of some Chinese medicinal plant extracts. Plant extracts in various concentrations spiked with the reporter bacterium Escherichia coli (ca. 104 cfu ml-1) were first spread onto LB agar plates. The determination of inhibition zone via disc diffusion method was then carried out for assessment of antibacterial activity. Antibacterial activities of two groups of crude plant extracts obtained by maceration (mac.) and decoction (dec.) were significantly different from each other. Extracts of Phyla nodiflora (mac.), Coptis chinensis Franch (mac.) and Coptis chinensis Franch (decoction) were found to be more appropriate to be antibacterial agents for possible therapeutic uses and Phyla nodiflora (mac.) seemed to be the most feasible one.
