碩士 === 國立花蓮教育大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 97 === A Study of the Rhetoric and styles in Yu Qiuyu’s Prose Summary The prose of Yu Qiuyu has been the fad of the time in the latest 10 years all over the Chinese Communities. He is also one of the most significant figures of the Chinese Literature history. He is renowned for his free and easy style of writing. It is not deniable that the 1990s belongs to the epoch of Yu Qiuyu. He has the artistic appreciation of both occidental and oriental cultures、sensitive thinking、incisive insight、appropriate judgment and the passion towards literature. These qualities are well blended into his lines and therefore 「Yu style of prose」 is so unique and brisk that it is beloved by the readers. His works tug at the heartstrings of many Chinese intellectuals. It is believed that his works reveal the cultural sight and humanity depth which are different from the other writers. His essays mainly focus on the human civilization、which include Chinese and foreign history、culture、philosophy and esthetics. His forms of writing include discussion、lyric、landscape writing and travel notes. His novel literary style impressed people and brings an aftertaste. This thesis is to discuss the diversity styles and the employment of different rhetoric techniques in the poses of Yu Quiyu. There are seven chapters and each chapter embarks from a mind map、which systematically visualize and generalize the content. Furthermore、it probes into the deployment of his beautiful sentences and the artistic rhetoric、which effectively diagnose the reasons why his prose is fascinating. Chapter 1 「Introduction」 The motivation and the research method are described、including the definitions of rhetoric、rhetoric theory and its application. Chapter 2 「Discussion of the meaning of the usage in Yu Qiuyu’s prose」 Objective rhetoric is emphasized、including five different figures of speech: description、parable、oxymoron、metonymy and quotations. Chapter 3 「Discussion of the word design in Yu Qiuyu’s prose」 The figures emphasizing in using words are employed、including epistrope、antimetable、polyptoton、inlay、pun and abridgement. Chapter 4 「Discussion of the phrases and sentences design in Yu Qiuyu’s prose」 The figures emphasizing sentence construction are employed、including parallelism、gradualism、anadiplosis、and anastrophe and intermingle. Chapter 5 「Figures of the artistic conception in Yu Qiuyu’s prose」 The figures are rather subjective、including exclamation、calling、rhetorical question、transformation、match and hyperbole. Chapter 6 「An enchanting sight ──The style of Yu Qiuyu’s prose」 The diversity and characteristics in the lines of his prose are emphasized and analyzed. Chapter 7 「Conclusion」 The discussion is held from two different aspects: the content and the style. 「Characteristics in languages」、「Travel notes」、「forms」、「rhetoric techniques」 and 「esthetic effects」 in his prose are induced in this chapter to manifest its artistic quality and value.
