The paper focuses on the "local opera of the butterfly lovers " dictated by Chen, wang cong and performed by local senior folksong singers. It includes the following chapters.
The first chapter is the introduction which includes the research motivation, methods, scope, purpose, and literature review.
The second chapter, on the basis of the source and performing types of the local folksong, discusses the background of the "local opera of the butterfly lovers ", and compares the booklets and scripts of the folksong from the synchronic and diachronic perspectives.
The third chapter studies the language of the song, i.e., analysis of the rhyme skills and local Ilan features from its libretto. And furthermore, it concludes the time features of the local opera from the rules of level and oblique tones in the rhymes.
The forth chapter discusses the script of the butterfly lovers from the linguistic perspective, analyzes the simple rhetoric skills embodies in early folksongs from the Taiwan rhetoric features-- figures of speech.
The fifth chapter analyzes the vocal, lexical, syntax, and linguistic expression styles from the cultural perspective.
The sixth chapter is the conclusion in which what have been discussed are concluded, i.e., views the life value of Taiwan folk literature showcased in the butterfly lovers from its significance in time, innovation and inheritance, local Chinese education.
