However, problems arise along with this strategy faced by enterprises may include reducing visibility of the outsourcing operations, inability to ensure continuity of supply, time taken to coordinate fragmented business processes, and betting more in common with the establishment of performance standards and indicators. From the past literature reviews, hold-up problems due to specific investments by partner business is mainly caused by asset specificity. In addition, this study primarily focuses on other factors that contribute to this problem as well as their effects on the rigidity of the strategy, and relationship among those alliance partners.Therefore, this study analyzed both traditional and high-tech industries in Taiwan through survey. A total of 550 questionnaires were issued of which 93 were returned. Four results were found: (1) the hold-up problem under outsourcing strategic alliance (2) effect of different industries, corporate sizes, and cooperation experiences on the hold-up problem (3) significantly positive relationship between different types of hold-up problems and rigidity of strategies (4) significantly positive relationship between different types of hold-up problems and alliance relations. Finally, relevant recommendations with detailed discussion on academic and pragmatic implication are provided based on the findings of this study.
