However, in infrastructure-based wireless networks, mobile nodes access services and internet resources through base stations which are connected to the backbone network. But, another infrastructure-less wireless networks, namely mobile ad hoc networks, also get attraction increasingly, and even extend to new research area like vehicle ad hoc networks. Since the mobile ad hoc network can work without the support of any backbone network or base station, it is suitable for the environments where base stations are hard to set up such as battlefields or disaster areas. How to provide good system architecture for supporting various services and satisfying different requirements in this environment becomes an important issue. The characteristic of publish/subscribe systems makes it suitable for wireless networks conceptually, but the work of this area is focused on wired networks in past few years. So, how to design a publish/subscribe system in mobile ad hoc networks is the most popular topic in mobile computing. However, the current approaches are specific to some particular cases, and there are no rules for classification and comparison in global view. Hence, we try to analyze these approaches by the concept of architecture design, and provide an overview of the problems and solutions for those researchers interested in this related area. In this thesis, we classify these approaches based on event routing structure, and compare their properties such as suitable environments or limitations. Shou-Chih Lo 羅壽之 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 83 zh-TW
