Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 教育研究所 === 97 === In Taiwan, besides their regular teaching schedule, most of the teachers are also responsible for their school’s administrative tasks. In addition, these administrative tasks frequently change for the assigned teacher; it can be messy and complicated sometimes. Since most of the teachers are not trained for this type of job, the desire to work and quality of work of teachers on these administrative tasks is low.
We will attempt to solve the problem of senior high school teachers holding the post of administrative tasks. In this research paper, we will begin to discuss some of the historical facts and related publications/researches about our current issue. Also, we use job analysis to discover the fundamental problem of the issue. Then we conduct several interviews with members of the school’s administration board for an exchange of opinions. Finally, we conclude our research with better formatted/improved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that we believe are the more practical approach/solution to the problem. The final results of our research were published in a standard procedure booklet for further reference.
According to the interviews we conducted, we found out that there are many benefits to using Standard Operating Procedure (SOP):
(1) Better clarity of instructions.
(2) Improvement of the confidence of the people doing the task.
(3) Ease of transfer and reference.
(4) Reduction of mistakes in the tasks.
(5) Standardized task procedures, increasing performances.
(6) Increase of the speed of validation, ease of keeping track of the process.
(7) Transparent procedures and decision making led a better work environment.
(8)The communication and support from each department is the key element of successful SOP.
The priority job for a teacher is teaching. By executing SOP in school, we can reduce teacher pressure significantly and have better quality of education. There are still many improvements and further research can be made regarding the results of this research. However, today, SOP is not a popular methodology in most school systems; we hope this research can be the starting point for fellow researchers.
