Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 家庭教育與諮商研究所 === 97 === This paper studies the emotion work between husband and wife and their relationship in terms of coparenting. It employs the questionnaire survey method and targets the parents of first grade students in Yunlin Elementary School as its research subjects. Its research tool is the “Emotion Work and Coparenting Questionnaire” created by the researcher, which can be used for a sample of 227 pairs. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, two-sample-comparative testing analysis, and Structural Equation Modelling analysis. These results are:
1. The emotion work of and the coparenting of the husband and the wife are in moderate degrees. In the “Coparenting” scale, self-appraisal scores are higher than peer-assessment score. There is significant difference between self-appraisal scores and peer-assessment scores in terms of wife’s coparenting. For husband, there is significant difference only between self-appraisal scores and peer-assessment scores in terms of the “cooperation and communication” subscale of coparenting.
2. In terms of background variables, only years of marriage has an evident positive influence on a wife’s perception of her husband’s performance in terms of emotion work.
3. Years of marriage, a husband’s perception of his wife’s performance in terms of emotion work, and a wife’s perception of her husband’s performance in terms of emotion work have evident effects on the husband’s gap of consciousness on coparenting. Among these, a husband’s perception of his wife’s performance in terms of emotion work has the biggest negative effect and degree of forecast accuracy on the husband’s gap of consciousness on coparenting.
4. The wife’s level of educational attainment, the husband’s perception of his wife’s performance in terms of emotion work, and the wife’s perception of her husband’s performance in terms of emotion work have evident effects on the wife’s gap of consciousness on coparenting. Among these, the wife’s perception of the husband’s performance in terms of emotion work has the biggest negative effect and degree of forecast accuracy on the wife’s gap of consciousness on coparenting.
5. On performance in terms of emotion work, there is an evident positive correlation between the husband and the wife; On the other hand, in terms of gap of consciousness on coparenting, there is a negative correlation evident between the husband and the wife.
Lastly, this paper provides recommendation based on its research findings.
