Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 輔導與諮商學系研究所 === 97 === This study was to understand the marital lived experiences of the middle-aged empty nest couple and the meaning to their lives. By adopting hermeneutic phenomenology methodology, purposeful sampling and snowball sampling were employed to recruit two couples from whose experiences were listened by conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews. Through the thematic analysis with the participants’ agreements, three themes were identified, which are (a) They need a long time to accommodate to the entering of empty nest days. (b) Treating each other with respect is needed while approaching empty nest days. (c) The meaning to empty nest depends on gender factor. Couples need to cherish what they possess to develop long life companions. In the conclusion of this study suggestions were provided for the empty nest couples. The research process was also self-examined.
