This research was conducted in a hospital in southern Taiwan and 34 in-service nurses participated in this study. The users’ acceptance of the learning environment as well as encountered obstacles when using the instructional materials were investigated. The results of the study showed that a well-designed instructional system is essential in achieving the learners’ acceptance of new forms of learning environment.Usefulness was the most important factor in determining the participants’ willingness in using digital learning materials. Ease of use was the secondary factor that affected the participants’ intention of using of the learning materials Both usefulness and ease of use were highly correlated to factors such as the nature of the material, interaction among participants, flexibility in time and location in terms of learning and the interactivity between the user and the learning system Meanwhile, the instructor also played a key role in promoting the use of digital learning materials.Suggestions for future studies and for the development of digital learning materials and the design of instructional systems are provided in this paper.
